Will seek Federal Conservative nomination in Kingston and The Isalnds

Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson has officially entered the race to win the Federal Conservative nomination for Kingston and the Islands, ahead of an expected spring election.

Speaking to a crowd of 150 supporters, Paterson promised to unite the community under a “big blue tent” and tackle pressing national issues like housing, cost of living, public safety, and mental health.

“No matter who you are, there is a place for you in this movement,” Paterson said, pledging to deliver hope and change.

Paterson criticized the federal Liberal government, calling it “worn out” and claiming its policies have failed or worsened problems.

City councillor Gary Oosterhof, who helped recruit Paterson, praised his leadership and track record as mayor for the past decade.

Paterson joins former MP Leona Alleslev and local businessperson Jarrod Stearns in the nomination race.

If successful, it would mark the first Conservative win in Kingston and the Islands in over 30 years.
