Memorial Centre Farmers Market Board member weighs in on Soccer plans

Questions aplenty surrounding plan

The proposed soccer stadium and dome at the current site of the Kingston Fair and Memorial Centre Farmer's Market is not being met with enthusiasm by all.

Andrew McCann beekeeper and member of the Farmers' Market Board has a question he'd ask the developers, if given the opportunity.

His group met with the city yesterday and plans to watch very closely when the subject comes up at tonight's council meeting. The plan would have the buildings they use leveled in favour of parking. At the time of publication, an alternate home for the market had not been offered up by the town.

McCann questions the process and whether the idea makes sense for the region, and it's Soccer needs.

McCann, who does have a child who plays competitive soccer, wonders how the multi-million dollar project can be sustained.

He points to the departure of Kingston FC to back up his questions.

We'll have more on this story as it develops.
