Mobile coverage in Eastern Ontario to get a boost

32 towers are coming to the region

Mobile communications in Eastern Ontario have received a boost with the addition of 32 new towers.

The Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN) and Rogers Communications announced Wednesday that all towers went online after May 1. EORN, a non-profit overseen by the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus, aims to close service gaps across the region.

The new towers are located in Hastings, Lennox and Addington, and Peterborough Counties, along with Quinte West, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, South Algonquin, and other areas. A complete list by location is not yet available.

With these new installations and upgrades to existing towers, the EORN Cell Gap Project is now 69 per cent complete.

Jennifer Murphy, chair of EORN, called this milestone a major step toward improving mobile connectivity for residents and businesses. The project will continue expanding coverage to ensure reliable service throughout Eastern Ontario.
