Motorcyclist killed in early morning crash

It happened at 4am on Portsmouth Ave

A 31-year-old Kingston resident died after a motorcycle crash on Portsmouth Avenue early Friday, Sept. 6, 2024.

The crash happened just before 4 a.m. near William Hackett Park. Firefighters, paramedics, and police were called to the scene. The motorcyclist was heading north on Portsmouth Avenue when the collision occurred. No other vehicles were involved.

Kingston Police closed Portsmouth Avenue between John Counter Boulevard and Old Quarry Road following the crash. Police alerted the public to the closure just before 8 this morning. 

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, according to police.

The road remained closed for several hours while officers worked at the scene but has since reopened.

This tragic accident is a reminder of the importance of road safety in the Kingston area.
