Dr. Simge Erdogan-O’Connor to lead Kingston museum into a new era

The Museum of Health Care at Kingston has announced the appointment of Dr. Simge Erdogan-O’Connor as its new director.

With over 13 years of experience in museums, art galleries, and heritage sites across Canada, the UK, and Turkey, Dr. Erdogan-O’Connor brings extensive expertise to the role. She holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University and an MA in Museum Studies from University College London.

Previously, she modernized Kingston’s Murney Tower Museum as manager, curator, and later director from 2020 to 2024. Her international collaborations include work with the Science Museum London and the Idaho Museum of International Diaspora.

As director, Dr. Erdogan-O’Connor will lead strategic initiatives to grow the Museum of Health Care as Canada’s top resource on the history of health care.

Board president Ian Gemmill welcomed the appointment, calling it a “new era” for the Museum’s national and international recognition.
