Keeping everyone safe
Loyalist Township has taken a proactive step to enhance road safety by implementing Community Safety Zones around local schools. These zones are clearly marked with signs and feature reduced speed limits of 40 km/h. The initiative aims to protect students and pedestrians by encouraging drivers to slow down in these critical areas.
In these zones, speeding fines will be doubled according to the provisions in the Highway Traffic Act, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the new speed limits.
The newly designated Community Safety Zones are located on the following roads:
- Kildare Ave
- Park Cres
- Upper Park Rd
- Amherst Dr
- Briscoe St
- Fairfield Blvd
- Durham St
- North St
- Front Rd
Residents and visitors are urged to pay attention to the new signage and drive safely, particularly in these school areas, to ensure the safety of all community members.
