Discover the Midtown Kingston Health Home
Kingston Community Health Centres (KCHC) has opened the Midtown Kingston Health Home, a new clinic set to revolutionize healthcare in the area.
Thanks in large part to a $4.1 million investment from the Ontario government, the facility is poised to provide top-notch care to the community. The funding is part of a larger $110 million initiative announced in February to connect 328,000 people with a physician or nurse practitioner, with primary care.
The project is a collaborative effort involving KCHC, Queen’s University, and the Frontenac, Lennox & Addington Ontario Health Team (FLA OHT).
This clinic offers an integrated primary care model housing several healthcare services in one location. That makes it much easier for patients to receive specialized care, while also freeing up physicians and nurse practitioners to see other patients.
Currently, the clinic operates out of the former Frontenac Medical Associates location. However, there are plans to move to the old Extendicare building on Queen Mary Road in the future. It will fill its roster of patients through Health Care Connect, the province's online portal to help connect Ontarians without doctors to primary care. In order to be considered for the clinic, you must be registered with the service. You can get that process started on their website, found here.
The current staff includes physicians, nurse practitioners, registered practical nurses, and medical secretaries. The team is set to grow to 30 members, adding social workers, mental health counsellors, and a certified diabetes educator among others. In 2025, students, nurse practitioners, and medical residents from Queen’s University are expected join the team to further enhance patient care.
