"New mini-series reveals the heartwarming work at Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre

Watch how 6,000 animals are saved each year

A new mini-series is shining a spotlight on the incredible work at Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre in Napanee, one of the region's busiest animal rehabilitation facilities. Handling over 6,000 animals annually—from mice to moose—the centre relies entirely on donations to operate.

The Whig Standard reports this series, Wildlife ON: Sandy Pines, was created by former TV reporter Jennifer Lester Mulridge. Inspired by animal rescue shows her children love, Mulridge produced five 12-minute episodes. Each episode follows the rescue and rehabilitation of an animal while introducing viewers to the dedicated staff and founder, Sue Meech.

Funded by $2,000 in community donations, the series features music from Belleville’s Eighty Twenty Studio. Mulridge hopes it raises awareness about the centre’s work and inspires more financial support.

Meech welcomes the attention, emphasizing the need for funding to help more animals. The mini-series will be available for free on YouTube this spring.
