New portal gives fraud victims easier access to support

Learn how to protect yourself against scams

Kingston Police and local OPP deal with a high volume of fraud calls, and it seems new scams are popping up almost daily.

In response the OPP's Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has launched a new Victim Portal and website this week, aimed at providing better support for those affected by fraud.

The Portal offers victims of fraud under investigation a secure and easy way to access important resources and communicate with victim liaisons.

Victims will be invited to join the Portal, where they can receive updates on their cases, learn about their rights, and access confidential information. Developed with input from victim liaisons, investigators, and tech experts, the Portal helps streamline communication and ensures victims get timely assistance.

The SFO is committed to supporting victims, as outlined in the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights.

In addition to the Portal, the public can visit the new SFO website at sfo.opp.ca to find resources about fraud, reporting, and understanding victims' rights.

Both platforms are mobile-friendly, offering easy access anytime, anywhere.
