Kingston's John Counter store closed by end of April
Peavey Mart, the Canadian farm goods chain, is closing all 90 of its locations across the country, including its Kingston store on John Counter Boulevard. The closure, set for the end of April, follows the company’s announcement that it is seeking creditor protection and undergoing an organizational restructuring.
Peavey Mart, headquartered in Red Deer, Alta., confirmed that stores in Ontario and Nova Scotia are also among those shutting down. In addition to the 90 Peavey Mart locations, six MainStreet Hardware stores will also be closed as part of the liquidation process.
The company’s CEO called the decision a "profoundly difficult" one, and emphasized that Peavey Mart would explore options to preserve the brand moving forward.
As the company enters liquidation, customers are left searching for alternative retailers for their farm goods and hardware needs. The company has not yet revealed plans for the future of the brand.
