The goal is to be ready to build new homes

The Ontario government is investing $325 million in critical water infrastructure to support the construction of up to 107,000 new homes.

The funding is part of the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), which helps municipalities build and upgrade drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.

Through the second intake of HEWSF, the City of Kingston will receive $6.99 million for the Williamsville Core Water Infrastructure Renewal project. Across the province, 23 water projects are being funded, bringing Ontario’s total HEWSF investment to nearly $1.3 billion across 77 projects.

These investments are expected to help municipalities enable the construction of approximately 600,000 new homes.

The funding is part of Ontario’s broader $191 billion capital plan to improve transit, highways, hospitals, schools, and other essential infrastructure, while supporting economic growth.

This initiative highlights the province’s commitment to meeting housing and infrastructure needs for future generations.news1 Moved File from Markets\ON East\Holding to Markets\Kingston\Holding @ 01/28/25 06:31 AM
