Special Governor General awards presented
Last week, 73 Ontario paramedics received Governor General Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal bars, recognizing 30, 40, or 50 years of exemplary service. The Hon. Michael Tibollo, Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, presented the awards.
Locally, Frontenac paramedics Mark Podgers, Richard Russell, and Michael van Hartingsveldt received First Bars for 30 years of service. Lennox & Addington's Craig Jones also earned a First Bar.
Established in 1994 by the late Governor General Romeo LeBlanc, this medal honours paramedics who consistently provide exceptional care, often under risky conditions. Each bar signifies an additional decade of service beyond the initial 20 years required for the medal.
These awards highlight dedication and professionalism in emergency medical services.
