Parham Agricultural Society hit by $20,000 theft

GoFundMe fundraiser launched to save annual fair

A theft investigation into missing funds from the Parham Agricultural Society has led to a charge.

Frontenac OPP responded to a complaint of approximately $20,000 missing from accounts tied to the charity, which organizes the annual Parham Fair.

Courtney Pare, a 42-year-old woman from Verona, has been charged with theft over $5,000.

She has been released from custody and will attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on April 1, 2025.

The Parham Agricultural Society posted a message on Facebook, confirming that Pare, their treasurer, had stolen the funds over a short period of time before the AGM.

The group, which has supported its community for 132 years, is now facing a difficult financial situation and is unsure about the future of the 2025 fair.

The community has rallied behind them, with donations pouring in to a GoFundMe effort help the organization recover.
