Petition presented: MPP Ted Hsu shares document asking for decision reversal

City, MPP, residents want $600,000 re-payment for local doctor dropped

MPP for Kingston & the Islands Ted Hsu has a brought a petition from local residents against a ruling against Dr. Elain Ma.

The ruling says that Dr. Ma must repay more than $600,000 to OHIP.

The MPP shared what the residents are asking the province to do.

The request mirrors one made by the MPP himself. Kingston City Council is also asking the province to reverse the decision. Dr. Piotr Oglaza, Medical Officer of Health for KFLA&A public health is among others asking for the decision to be tossed out.

The ruling said that proper OHIP rules were not followed during the mass COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics hosted by Dr. Ma. One point of contention was her use of medical students to deliver the injections.

Dr. Ma has not launched a formal appeal as of yet, but has stated publicaly that she doesn't have the money to repay the province.
