Two charged as war on car thefts wages on
The Ontario Provincial Police have charged two people after stopping two stolen vehicles on Highway 401.
On February 21, officers spotted a Range Rover and a Toyota Highlander heading east near Highway 41. Police confirmed the vehicles were stolen and stopped the Range Rover at the Odessa Onroute before intercepting the Highlander at Kingston’s Montreal Street exit. A search revealed the drivers were using two-way radios to communicate.
Robin Virk, 20, of Niagara Falls, and Ron Harding, 48, of Ajax, are both charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of an automobile master key, and possession of break-in instruments.
Virk was released after a bail hearing and will appear in court in Napanee. Harding remains in custody and made an appearance earlier this week.
