Union urging faculty members to not cross the picket lines
About 2,000 graduate student workers at Queen’s University are on strike as of Monday, March 10, 2025.
The workers, represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), set up picket lines at campus entrances starting at 8 a.m. The main protest is at Joseph S. Stauffer Library at Union and University.
The strike affects nearly 26,000 undergraduate students who depend on teaching assistants, research assistants, and teaching fellows for tutorials, research, and grading.
PSAC said negotiations lasted 15 hours on Sunday but ended when Queen’s rejected the union’s key bargaining demands.
The union has urged faculty members not to cross the picket lines, either in person or online, and to support striking workers.
Queen’s University has not publicly responded to the strike as of Monday morning.
