Services to continue as usual at the university
A strike at Queen’s University has been avoided after a last-minute deal was reached between the university, its foodservice contractor, and CUPE locals 229, 254, and 1302.
The tentative agreements cover more than 1,000 workers, including custodians, tradespeople, classroom and library technicians, and caretakers. Staff at the Donald Gordon Centre are also included.
No details have been released, as the agreements must still be ratified. The deal prevents major disruptions to campus operations.
Students and staff can expect services to continue as usual while the union members prepare to vote on the agreements.
