Have fun. Just be safe and respectful about it
The City of Kingston and Kingston Police Services are reminding residents, especially post-secondary students, about the University District Safety Initiative (UDSI).
The current UDSI is active until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
During this period, Kingston Police and Bylaw Enforcement will conduct city-wide monitoring to ensure compliance with local bylaws. The initiative typically aligns with events like homecoming, St. Patrick’s Day, and orientation week, aiming to curb disruptive activities such as illegal parties.
Violating the initiative could lead to consequences under Queen’s University’s student code of conduct and Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs). Offenders may also receive a Part I Court Summons, requiring them to appear before a Justice of the Peace.
Additionally, those hosting illegal gatherings might incur hourly charges of $90 per officer or firefighter if emergency responders are dispatched to their property.
Stay informed, stay safe, and avoid penalties by following local rules during the UDSI period.
