Second degree murder charge for Kingston mother.

Charges follow negligence incident

A Kingston woman is now charged with second-degree murder in connection with a tragic incident involving her two children.

On May 31, 2024, at about 1:55 p.m., a representative from Family and Children’s Services discovered two abandoned children in an apartment on Russell Street. Sadly, one child was found deceased.

Kingston Police quickly located the children’s mother in Napanee, arresting her later that evening.

Initially charged with criminal negligence causing death, failing to provide necessaries of life, and abandoning a child, the investigation by the Kingston Police Major Crime Unit led to a revised charge of second-degree murder.

On September 27, 2024, the accused, already in custody, was re-arrested and appeared at a bail hearing, where she was remanded into custody.
