20 cm of snow possible
A Snow Squall Watch is in effect for Kingston, Odessa, and Frontenac Islands as lake effect snow squalls are expected to move inland tonight and continue through Wednesday night. The region could see up to 20 cm of snow, with peak snowfall rates of 2 to 5 cm per hour. Poor visibility in heavy snow is also expected, making travel conditions dangerous.
Snow squalls can cause rapid changes in weather, with clear skies turning to heavy snow within just a few kilometres.
Public Safety Canada advises residents to postpone non-essential travel until conditions improve.
If you must travel, ensure your schedule and destination are shared with others, and carry an emergency kit with water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit, and a flashlight.
Stay prepared and keep updated on the weather, as conditions can change quickly.
