Some trains rolling again - but for how long?

Binding arbitration order to be appealed

Some trains will be rolling today after the federal labour board ordered the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and Canadian National Railway (CNR) and their workers to resume operations.

The Teamsters Rail Union vows to appeal that decision. Their President Sean O'Brien says their employers only care about themselves.

He adds they should be thanking the workers for getting us through the pandemic.

-They are on call almost 24 hours a day, 7 days per week

-Workers only get two hours to report to work if called in

-Workers don't know how long each shift will be

The Labour Board said it found no reason to refuse the Labour Ministry's initial order for binding arbitration.

The rail shutdown damaged our country's supply chain. It was already becoming apparent in the form of stores being out of certain products.
