St. Lawrence College announces more layoffs

Sweeping restructuring continues

St. Lawrence College (SLC) is making significant staff cuts as part of an ongoing restructuring process.

While initial reports from the Kingstonist indicated that 124 employees would be laid off, the publication now reports the total number affected is expected to be higher.

The college confirmed management and administrative positions are being reduced, as are support staff jobs.

These layoffs are part of a broader restructuring strategy, which also includes the suspension of 40% of program intakes, a move announced in January.

The exact number of layoffs has not been disclosed. However, the college has made it clear that the cuts are necessary for the long-term sustainability of its operations.

SLC’s decision comes amidst financial challenges being faced by colleges across the province.
