Canine unit made the collar
A dramatic police chase unfolded on Division Street near Highway 401 on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, when two people in a stolen car attempted to evade officers.
The incident began around 2:15 p.m. when the suspects drove past a Kingston Police cruiser.
Before police could act, the vehicle fled, sideswiping two cars and crashing into another. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into a swamp near Wendy’s at Division and Benson Streets.
Kingston Police called in the Canine Unit who successfully tracked the driver.
The passenger, who stayed in the car, was arrested on the spot. Both suspects, residents of Kingston, now face multiple charges.
The 22-year-old driver faces charges including dangerous driving, possession of stolen property, and breaches of court orders. The 18-year-old passenger is charged with possession of stolen property and other offences.
