Suspicious vehicle report leads to multiple charges in South Frontenac

Kingston man charged

A Kingston man faces several charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious vehicle report on Clear Lake Road.

On January 23, 2025, just after 8:30 a.m., officers found a man asleep in the driver’s seat with the engine running. Investigators determined the driver, Benjamin Frew, 48, was under a lifetime driving prohibition.

A vehicle search uncovered break-in tools and drug-related items. Frew was arrested and transported to the Lennox and Addington OPP Detachment for further testing.

Frew is charged with operation while impaired by drugs, three counts of operation while prohibited, driving while suspended, and several other offenses, including possession of break-in instruments.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing in Kingston on January 24. The vehicle was impounded as part of the investigation.

The OPP reminds the public to report suspicious activity to help maintain community safety.
