Teacher shortage? Not on Doug Ford's watch

Premier says plan will ensure ranks are filled

Ontario Premier Doug Ford responded to reports that there's a potential teaching shortage looming as early as 2027.

He said at a news conference, there won't be one.

A report from the Canadian Press says a shortage is possible as teacher retirement and student enrolment are both on the rise, and many school boards are having trouble recruiting.

Ford says they've hired 7,500 teachers and TAs since taking office.
