Two girls one boy grace local couple
Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) welcomed three special arrivals recently—triplets Lucille, Yvonne, and Eugene. Proud parents Margaret and Alex were thrilled but admitted they were stunned when they first heard the news.
“It was a big shock when we found out there were three. We’re excited but a little scared too,” Alex joked.
Triplet births are rare, occurring in just one in every 10,000 deliveries. This is the first set born at KHSC’s Kingston General Hospital in four years.
The hospital’s high-risk obstetrics team sprang into action, creating a “Team Triplet” plan. Dr. Jonathan Ausman, a maternal-fetal specialist, said the delivery required careful coordination between the labour and delivery unit and the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
“We’re fortunate to have such dedicated teams working together,” Dr. Ausman added.
Alex described the birth as “like a football team running into the room.”
The happy family is grateful for KHSC’s care and ready to embrace life with their new trio.
