To park or not to park? We'll soon know the answer

Kingston to review proposed winter parking rules

Kingston City Council will vote tomorrow on making the weather-based overnight parking ban permanent.

The two-year pilot program allowed street parking overnight in December and March, unless a ban was activated due to bad weather.

The City communicated these bans through its website and social media.

A report to council shows that overnight parking was permitted 65% of the time during these months.

If approved, this change would keep the current system in place, giving residents more flexibility.

The City says it helps with snow clearing and ensures streets are safer during winter conditions.

Council’s decision will determine if this approach becomes a long-term solution for managing overnight parking.
