Winter storm ahead: Officials warn drivers to prepare for roadside emergencies

An emergency kit is always good to keep on hand

With the bad weather and snow on the horizon, local officials want to make sure you're prepared in the event of an emergency on the roads.

Deputy Medical Officer of Health with the South East Health Unit, Dr. Linna Li says if you're heading out make sure you have an emergency kit with you.

She says you can also pack matches and candles and something brightly coloured to attract attention if you're stuck on the side of the road.

The OPP's Joe Tereschuk says if you do get into a collision, Tereschuk says don't hop out of your car.

This winter has already had several days of poor driving conditions. The OPP says drivers have to once again put experience into play, but ask if the weather is bad don't head out unless you actually have to.
