Youth in Kingston take climate action

2025 Kingston Symposium takes a younger approach

The City of Kingston and Sustainable Kingston will host the 2025 Kingston Climate Change Symposium on January 20.

The event, themed "Rooted in Action: Empowering Youth to Grow a Sustainable Future," focuses on youth-led climate action. Indigenous Rights and Water activist Autumn Peltier will deliver the keynote address.

Peltier, a global advocate, has spoken at the World Economic Forum alongside Greta Thunberg and was runner-up for the 2022 International Children’s Peace Prize.

CBC host Ali Hassan will emcee the event, which includes engaging discussions with young climate leaders, educators, and community members.

Attendees can connect with local environmental groups at a small exhibit. Tickets are $10 at KingstonGrand.ca. A free livestream will be available, with donations encouraged to the Kingston Community Climate Action Fund, supporting local emission-reducing projects. Registration for the livestream opens in January.

The event aims to empower youth voices for a sustainable future.
