Frontenac Islands Mayor pushes for two ferries

Wolfe Island scheduling issues continue to frustrate

Frontenac Islands Mayor Judy Greenwood-Speers is set to officially propose a new motion to the province for two ferries between Kingston and Wolfe Island at the upcoming council meeting.

This follows concerns raised by a recent survey on the new ferry schedule introduced with the Wolfe Islander IV on August 17, 2024.

Residents have reported long service gaps, with waits of up to two hours during peak times, affecting work commutes, emergency services, and local businesses.

Greenwood-Speers criticized the Ministry of Transportation's (MTO) capacity claims and highlighted that a two-ferry service would improve service reliability and reduce wait times.

The Mayor is calling for a town hall meeting with the MTO to address these issues.

Additionally, MPP Ted Hsu has engaged with the MTO regarding these scheduling problems.
