Pursuit started in Kingston, wrapped in Gananoque
A stolen luxury Jeep Wrangler was recovered on September 20, 2024, after a pursuit on Highway 401 near Kingston ended in Gananoque.
Just after 9:30 a.m., an officer from the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team identified the stolen vehicle using an Automated Licence Plate Reader (ALPR). The officer attempted to stop the driver, but the vehicle continued.
Leeds County OPP, assisted by the TIME team, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Gananoque Police, and Kingston Police K-9 Unit, launched a search after the Jeep was abandoned in Gananoque. The driver, a 34-year-old man from Montreal, was arrested by Gananoque police with help from a police dog.
The suspect faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, trafficking in stolen goods, and flight from an officer. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on October 18, 2024.
