KHSC celebrates funding announcements

Cash will go a long way to serving the people of Kingston

Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) has been awarded $17.5 million in new funding over the course of the summer to enhance patient care and upgrade infrastructure.

The largest portion, $9.7 million, comes through the province’s Growth and Efficiency Model (GEM), aimed at improving efficiency and handling increased patient volumes due to regional growth.

KHSC will also receive $1.4 million to support its comprehensive cardiac program, the only one of its kind in southeastern Ontario.

An additional $2.6 million will fund increased imaging capacity, more transplant and surgical procedures, and enhanced care for chronic conditions.

Lastly, $3.8 million in Health Infrastructure Renewal Funding (HIRF) will be used for essential repairs and upgrades at KHSC’s two hospital sites.

Dr. David Pichora, KHSC President and CEO, praised the funding for enabling KHSC to expand its services and better serve the community.
