Kingston Fire and Rescue highlights carbon monoxide awareness week

Check your detector and keep the family safe

Prevent the silent killer from striking

Kingston Fire and Rescue is reminding residents that this week is Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a silent killer—it's colourless and odourless, making it hard to detect.

To keep homes safe, ensure there are working CO alarms on every level, especially near sleeping areas.

Residents should test their alarms monthly and change batteries regularly to ensure they function properly.

Fire officials urge everyone to be aware of the symptoms of CO poisoning, which include headache, dizziness, and nausea.

Kingston Fire and Rescue encourages everyone to prioritize safety and remain CO aware.
