Kingston youth entrepreneurs receive boost

Kingston Economic Development Corporation provides a leg-up

The Kingston Economic Development Corporation has unveiled an exciting initiative to empower young entrepreneurs.

Thanks to funding from the Ontario government, 12 students will each receive grants of up to $3,000 through the Summer Company program.

Aimed at youths aged 15 to 29, this initiative not only provides financial support but also includes coaching and training sessions. Participants must commit to dedicating at least 35 hours weekly to their ventures, ensuring sustainable business practices.

Norman Musengimana, manager of Start-ups & Entrepreneurship at Kingston Economic Development, emphasized the program's importance in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among the youth.

"Owning a business at a young age isn’t common, but it’s crucial for preparing the next generation," he stated. This initiative aims to equip young minds with the skills needed to thrive in Canada’s evolving economy.
