Kingston’s primary care gets $100K boost

Money will help serve more patients

Councillors Vincent Cinanni and Paul Chaves presented Princess Street Medical Centre with a $100,000 cheque through the City’s Primary Care Clinic Grant. The funds will help the clinic expand its administrative staff and hire allied health professionals to accommodate 1,000 more patients.

This grant is part of the City of Kingston’s ongoing efforts to improve access to healthcare. Since launching a physician recruitment program in 2022, Kingston has welcomed 17 new doctors, helping 15,300 patients, including 4,100 new ones.

To date, Kingston has invested $3 million into physician recruitment, including $1 million in early 2024. The City is also working with local health teams on innovative care models like Health Homes to ensure residents have access to primary care close to home.

The Primary Care Clinic Grant supports six local clinics in expanding their services and rosters, addressing the growing need for accessible healthcare.
