Robert Meek Community Centre Celebrates 100 Years of Service

Boys and Girls Club celebrates donation

Last Saturday, the Robert Meek Community Centre celebrated its 100th anniversary, marking a century of service to the Kingston community.

Built in 1920, the center has a rich history, having operated as a local school for over 75 years before becoming home to Boys and Girls Club programs for the past 30 years. Their Amanda Guarino is grateful for the community's support.

Currently, the centre offers daycare and before-and-after school programs for 200 local children.

During the celebration, the center was renamed the Hughson Childcare Centre in honor of the Hughson Group, a locally owned construction company based in Kingston.

The name change recognizes their generous $1 million pledge to support the Boys and Girls Club programs in the coming years.

The donation will enhance the center's impact on the community, ensuring continued support for local families and children.
