United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington getting set for annual campaign

The 83rd annual Campaign will kick off on Friday, September 6th

It won’t be long now until the United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington launches the 2024 campaign.

The 83rd annual Campaign will kick off on Friday, September 6th, 2024. At that time, they’ll share their community wide goal.

But until then, United Way KFL&A President & CEO John DiPaolo shared with myFM they’re currently working with a lot of workplaces to make sure they’re ready as well. About 65% of the funds raised each year comes from workplace partners.

If local businesses haven’t participated in the past but are interested this year, you can reach the United Way at campaign@unitedwaykfla.ca.

Joanne Langlois, Chair of the 2024 Campaign, says the perfect thing about the United Way is that all funds are raised locally and are all directed towards the unique and not so unique social issues in KFL&A.

Langlois shared they’ve been “in the thick of it” for the last few months and is really looking forward to being chair for this year’s campaign.

The United Way has also announced two Leadership Challenge Grants. The Britton Smith Foundation will generously provide a Leadership Challenge Grant that encourages leadership gifts. A special Women United Challenge Grant will also be offered again this year thanks to a generous donation from Judith Gould, encouraging female donors to increase the impact of their gift.

With these grants, if donors either increase their donations or make a new donation of $1,200 or more per year, their donation will be matched up to a certain limit. Donors who are already giving at this level and add 10% or more to their gift will also have their increase matched. Thanks to the Women United grant, women donors will have their donations matched by both grants, making their gift three times more impactful. Leaders of the Way, who give $1,200 or more, make up over half of the campaign and are the fastest-growing part of the annual fundraising effort.
