What's good in Kingston? It's nutrition month!

The South East Health unit has some thoughts...

Nutrition experts share easy tips to nourish your body and mind

March is Nutrition Month, and experts from South East Health Unit are encouraging residents to "Nourish to Flourish."

Dr. Linna Li, Deputy Medical Officer of Health says food does a lot more than we think.

Dana Douglas, Registered Dietitian, says good nutrition benefits both physical and mental health.

Dr Li added that food nourishes more than just our bodies—it supports emotional well-being and community connections. She

Douglas emphasizes balanced eating, recommending a variety of vegetables, whole grains, and plant-based proteins. She also encourages mindful eating, staying hydrated, and reducing processed foods.

Mental well-being is another key focus. Douglas says each person's relationship with food is different and should be respected.

Food also plays a social role, strengthening relationships and cultural traditions.
