Limestone Race Weekend brings time in prison
Kingston's largest annual running event, the Limestone Race Weekend happens this weekend, (April 26th and 27th). There will be a 5K, Waterfront 10K, and the Historic Half Marathon race. There's even a 2K Tom Compton Memorial Run for kids.
And this year, the Historic Half Marathon will take a very special route as Kingston Road Runners Association Chair Dalton Cote explains.
The all volunteer non-profit Road Runners have selected routes to provide the beauty of historic Kingston to runners as well as minimize traffic lane closures. Supporters are urged to come out to cheer on the participants. Dalton says their success in drawing over 1000 runners from far and wide is due to part to the variety of events.
Saturday's 2K and 10K Waterfront take place at McDonald Park on King Street East starting at 4:00 pm. Sunday's 5K and Historic Half Marathon start (at 9:30 am and 10 am respectively) at Confederation Park across from City Hall and will use all lanes of Ontario Street in that area which will be closed to traffic.
Dalton is proud of his association, the partnerships they've built and the support of volunteers.
