Kingston and area families find hope
Families in Kingston and the area facing pregnancy challenges now have more support through the Doula Support Foundation. The local non-profit provides free and judgment-free doula services to those in need, including single parents, teen mothers, LGBTQ+ families, and people dealing with financial struggles, mental health concerns, or abuse. Anna Siwakoti, DSF Chairperson explains what a doula is.
Doula Support Foundation's reach is wide and their families are varied as Anna notes
The help that doulas provide has been around for decades and their popularity is growing
The foundation’s Prism program also offers care for those experiencing pregnancy or infant loss, as well as unexpected fetal diagnoses. The organization says its goal is to ensure that no one has to navigate pregnancy, birth, or postpartum alone.
Families seeking extra guidance can also access perinatal education classes through a partnership with Childbirth Kingston.
The foundation is calling on those in need to reach out for support. "Your journey. Our support," they say, welcoming all families with open arms.
Anna believes the support her organization provides delivers lasting and positive effects on more than just mothers.
