Says he's not keeping it to help support his father
Peter Gallinelli is celebrating after winning the $1.5 million custom home in the Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery.
Gallinelli, from Thorold, was announced as the grand prize winner during a live draw at Slush Puppie Place in Kingston on Friday night. His ticket was pulled from nearly 16,000 entries by former MuchMusic veejay and local media personality Bill Welychka.
The lottery also awarded a 2024 Ford Mustang to Kingston’s Sharon Stokes, along with 10 other prizes, including cash and travel vouchers.
Gallinelli, who watched the draw live on Facebook, plans to sell the house and use the money to care for his aging father.
The Kinsmen Club of Kingston raised over $500,000 through ticket sales, supporting 12 to 14 local charities, including the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA. Organizers say this was a record year for sales, with almost all tickets sold.
