Aberdeen Street trashed after St. Patrick’s Day party as cleanup continues

Despite thousands attending the party on Saturday, no students were seen helping with cleanup efforts.

Aberdeen Street was left covered in garbage after thousands of students packed the University District for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

The Whig Standard shared pictures of the scene showing plastic cups, empty jugs, and broken tables scattered across the area. Garbage bags were even stuffed into newly-installed city planters meant for future trees.

The mess extended beyond Aberdeen Street to Earl and William streets, where broken garbage containers, a shattered wooden table, and a metal pole pulled from the ground were found.

The city recently upgraded Aberdeen Street’s infrastructure, but the disorderly celebrations left it in disarray.

The University District Safety Initiative ended at noon Tuesday as city crews continued cleaning up the aftermath.

Despite thousands attending the party on Saturday, no students were seen helping with cleanup efforts. Tens of thousands of dollars in fines were issued over the weekend for illegal parties and other activities in the University district.
