Daily operations to stay the same

Amey’s Taxi, a well-known Kingston cab company for over 100 years, is now under new ownership. Longtime owner Mark Greenwood retired and sold the business in December 2024 to Coventry Connections, one of Ontario’s largest taxi companies.

The Whig Standard reports that despite the change, daily operations will stay the same. Coventry CEO Marc André Way says customers can expect improvements, including a better app with real-time updates.

Coventry plans to adjust Amey’s business model. Currently, most taxis are owned by drivers, but the company wants to offer more rental vehicles. Insurance policies will also change, requiring drivers to use Coventry’s program.

Rebranding is also being considered, though no final decision has been made. Coventry says it will continue supporting local charities.

Way believes Kingston is a strong market and wants to maintain Amey’s community feel while upgrading services.
