Move would reflect change in population
Loyalist Township is conducting a review of its Council composition and ward boundaries to ensure fair representation as the community grows.
Wards are geographical areas within the township that serve political and administrative purposes. The review will assess whether the current Council structure and wards are still effective and equitable or if changes are needed.
As Loyalist Township has grown since 1998, settlement patterns have shifted, and this review will consider if adjustments to wards and council numbers would better represent residents. Loyalist Township encourages residents, businesses, and stakeholders to participate in discussions and share input on the current system.
A public survey is open until November 17 at 11:59 p.m., allowing residents to voice opinions on the electoral structure. You can find the survey here. Survey feedback will help consultants make recommendations to Council. Residents are encouraged to share the survey with friends, family, and neighbors for broader community input. You can get to it here.
