"Bring on the Lake" is coming to Kingston

Easter Seals Ontario is bringing the open water swimming event to the area this July.

Easter Seals Ontario are bringing Bring on the Lake to Kingston.

The open water swimming event will take place Saturday July 19 at the Kingston Yacht Club.

This is the first ever Bring on the Lake swim in the Limestone City.

Southeast Region Community Engagement Officer for Easter Seals Ontario, Linda Clouthier, says the event has been a success in Ottawa and feels Kingston is the ideal place to hold this event.

There are two courses: a 1.5 km route and a 3 km route between the yacht club and the Gord Downie Pier.

Clouthier says anyone who likes to swim can sign up.

Proceeds from the event go to Easter Seals Ontario, benefiting children, youth and young adults with physical disabilities in the Kingston area and across the province.

Clouthier says they have set a modest goal for their inaugural Kingston event.

The early bird registration deadline is May 30.

Participants can enter for $75, between June 1 and July 16 it goes up to $90.

In addition to the swimming, Clouthier says there will be plenty of other things to do at the event.
