Kingston wants your opinion on a new community food forest

Goal to support food security, biodiversity, and climate resilience

Kingston Community Health Centres is asking residents for feedback on a new community garden project at Rodden Park.

The proposal includes a Food Forest and Little Forest, covering 150 square metres each. The goal is to support food security, biodiversity, and climate resilience while fostering community connections.

Rodden Park, located at 111 Norman Rogers Drive, was originally planned as an arboretum in 1966. The new design builds on that vision with native trees, pollinator-friendly plants, and edible gardens.

The City of Kingston held five community meetings in 2024, with over 30 attendees and 600 flyers distributed. The project timeline includes site preparation in 2025 and planting in 2025-26.

Residents can share their thoughts through an online survey on the City’s Get Involved platform. The survey closes on April 17 at 4 p.m.
