Measles warning issued after confirmed case at Kingston movie theatre

The South East Health Unit have identified another five places in the region where people may have been exposed to measles.

They said in a news release that it is connected to a new single positive measles case.

One of the places is the Cineplex location on Gardiners Road in Kingston.

They say it happened on April 10 during the 4:35 pm showing of A Minecraft Movie, and in the concession area and bathrooms between 4:20 pm and 8 pm.

The health unit also listed four other places in the region where measles exposure may have occurred: Tamworth Elementary School (April 3 to 10), Tamworth Post Office (April 4 from 4:10 pm to 6:10 pm), the emergency department at Lennox and Addington County General Hospital (April 10 from 7 pm to 11:47 pm), and Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (April 11 from 12 Noon to 3:30 pm).

People who may have visited these places are being asked to check their immunization records, and monitor symptoms for 21 days.

The health unit asks those who think they may have been exposed to measles to contact them at 613-549-1232.

They say there have been a total of 82 cases in the south west region.

80 were reported in Hastings and Prince Edward counties and two in Kingston Frontenac Lennox and Addington area.
