Parking rate hikes in Kingston

What you need to know before April 1st 2025

Starting April 1, 2025, parking rates across the City will increase to help fund future infrastructure and maintain the parking system.

At a February 18, 2025, City Council meeting, key rate adjustments were approved, including a $0.50 per hour increase for on-street parking, as well as parking in downtown and Williamsville lots and garages.

Event parking will also rise by $1, while overnight and weekend rates will go up by $1 or $1.25 in select locations.

Kyle Compeau, Director of Licensing and Enforcement, emphasized that these changes will ensure parking spaces remain available and the parking system stays sustainable.

The adjustments are expected to generate $1.32 million in 2025, supporting maintenance, technology upgrades, and future infrastructure improvements.

In addition, paid accessible parking rates will decrease to $1 per hour, with fines for unauthorized use set to rise from $300 to $400.
